Zayn Malik announces 2026 Las Vegas residency that’s “only the beginning” of a “massive year” ahead

Zayn Malik has announced that 2026 will be a “massive year” for him, and will kick off with a residency in Las Vegas.

Yesterday (Monday September 22), the soloist and former One Direction star confirmed that he will be starting the new year with a seven-date residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM, Las Vegas.

The shows will start on January 20, and will see him play at the venue on January 21, 24, 25, 28, and 30, before wrapping up with a show on the 31st.

It will be a rare live appearance from the singer, who has only ever headed out on tour once since his departure from One Direction in 2015. That was his ‘Stairway To The Sky’ run of shows, which started in Leeds last November and saw him project a tribute to the late Liam Payne on the screen behind him.

In the new announcement for the 2026 residency, Malik wrote: “VEGAS!! JAN 2026!!” and shared photos of himself in Sin City.

According to a new press release (via Billboard), the shows will be “only the beginning of what will be a massive year for Zayn”, and will see him play shows from across his four albums – 2016’s ‘Mind Of Mine’, 2018’s ‘Icarus Falls’, 2021’s ‘Nobody Is Listening’, and 2024’s ‘Room Under The Stairs’.

While the majority of fans are excited about Malik starting a residency in Las Vegas, some have been venting frustration that the dates do not yet include any shows in Europe.

“So that EU tour doesn’t exist after all does it,” one wrote in the Instagram comment section, while another insisted: “We need dates for all countries.”

It is not yet clear if the “massive” upcoming year for Malik will include dates in the UK and Europe.

As for what else the year could have in store for the singer, some are convinced that a release from One Direction could be on the way. Rumours for this have been around for years, but accelerated when bandmate Louis Tomlinson shared two videos on social media, along with the captions “Costa Rica. 9th May 2025,” and, “Costa Rica. 20th May 2025.”

Tomlinson can be seen recording music in the clips, although it sent some fans into overdrive when they became convinced that they could hear harmonised vocals in the footage – which they suspected to be from Harry Styles and Malik.

Some claimed that a One Direction reunion could be on the way, while others suggested that it could be previously unreleased material that the band are looking to share (via Metro).

Nothing has been confirmed about One Direction at time of writing, and a reunion currently seems unlikely, given each of the members have their own solo projects. If it did materialise, it would be their first announcement since breaking up in 2016, and first update since the death of Liam Payne, who passed away last October after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
