Working Men’s Club’s Sydney Minsky Sargeant preps solo debut for Domino: hear “I Don’t Wanna”

Sydney Minsky Sargeant of UK band Working Men’s Club has signed to Domino as a solo artist and has announced his first album for the label. It’s titled Lunga and he co-produced it with Alex Greaves (Mandy Indiana, bdrmm). The album’s out September 12.

In a lot of ways, Sydney is Working Men’s Club, but his solo album is pretty far away from the gnashing rave beats of that band. “I’m trying to wear my heart-on-my-sleeve a bit more, these songs come from a search for meaning and understanding,” he says. “I’m always trying to unpick myself and those around me, the ones I love and loved the most. There were thoughts and feelings that these songs helped me express, address and make sense of.”

The first single from the album is “I Don’t Wanna,” a song that starts as an acoustic ballad but slowly adds in electronics. You can watch the video below.

Working Men’s Club are still going, if you’re wondering, and are opening for LCD Soundsystem in London this week.
