What Heaton and Bayindir think of Lammens revealed, they have identified one area that needs improvement – report

Manchester United picked up their third clean sheet of the Michael Carrick era on Monday as they pipped Everton 1-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It was far from a vintage display, but Matheus Cunha’s stunning long ball, coupled with Benjamin Sesko’s ice-cold finish, put the Red Devils on course for a famous away win.

However, the Toffees came hard at the visitors as they looked for an equaliser, throwing the kitchen sink at them during the dying moments of the match.

The United box was bombarded with crosses and set-piece deliveries, with Everton players surrounding the keeper. The box resembled a wrestling arena at times.

Senne Lammens was imperious vs Everton

Senne Lammens must have been under pressure, but he looked like the coolest guy in Merseyside on Monday night. Repealing attack after attack, what impressed fans the most was the Belgian’s handling of the situation.

He caught most crosses and shots instead of parrying them away, only punching clear when there was no other option. The summer signing was rightly awarded the Man of the Match award.

United’s backline has looked transformed since the former Royal Antwerp ace started in goal, and his form has impressed United’s goalkeeping contingent.

According to The Sun, Tom Heaton has been a huge help to the Belgian international, and both the Englishman and reserve keeper Altay Bayindir feel the 23-year-old can be United’s No.1 for years to come.

What United’s other goalkeepers feel about Senne Lammens

However, the duo have identified one area that Senne Lammens needs to work more on: his shot-stopping when it comes to incredible long-range strikes.

“Lammens said how much Tom Heaton has helped him and United sources say the two goalies have “hit it off”.

“The goalkeeping contingent at the club believe Lammens can be a top-level goalkeeper for a long time.

“They are particularly impressed by his handling of the ball and believe the next area for him to improve on is pulling off ‘unsaveable’ stops.”

Next area of improvement identified

Goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Morgan Rogers earlier in the season are perfect examples of shots that the current No.1 needs to do better with.

It is not a criticism but a valid take, and one that, if Lammens improves, will help both him and Manchester United in the long run.
