Watch Sam Ryder surprise Glastonbury-goers with impromptu train performance

Sam Ryder has performed a surprise, impromptu set on a train headed to Glastonbury 2025 – check out footage of the moment below.

Ahead of his Field of Avalon stage performance on Sunday night (June 29), Ryder has played a short acoustic set in a train cart en route to Worthy Farm. Per Bristol Live, Ryder took over the train conductor’s mic to make a couple of “cheeky” announcements, before treating festival-goers to a set that included a cover of 4 Non Blondes’ ‘What’s Up’.

The impromptu performance came as part of the I Came By Train campaign by Trainline and Great Western Railway that advocates for festival goers travelling by train as a greener alternative to cars and flights.

Other musicians who support the I Came By Train campaign include Annie Mac, GreenTea Peng and Self Esteem among others.

The BRIT Award-nominated Ryder told the publication: “The energy on that train was unreal. ‘I came by train’ is all about doing something good for the planet — and having a great time doing it.”

Ryder’s train performance comes two years after Dave Grohl caught the train to Worthy Farm for the Foo Fighters’ not-so-secret set in 2023.

In other Glastonbury 2025 news, Lewis Capaldi has made his comeback the powerful single ‘Survive’, further supporting rumours that he’s due for a secret set on the Pyramid Stage tonight to make up for not being able to complete his 2023 performance.
