Watch MJ Lenderman debut a new song, cover Vic Chesnutt, Neil Young, Drive-By Truckers & more

Drive-By Truckers are in the midst of their 2026 HeAthens Homecoming, playing four nights of shows at The 40 Watt in Athens, GA, with different openers each night. Things kicked off on Wednesday (2/11) with MJ Lenderman opening. He was backed by two of his Snocaps bandmates, Brad Cook on bass and Colin Croom on drums, and their set included the debut of new material and covers of songs by Vic Chesnutt, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, and Pink Floyd. They also covered Patterson Hood‘s “Uncle Disney,” and Hood joined them on a “super rare” DBT song, “Bob,” which Croom sang on. Watch attendee-taken video from the set below.

Hood namedropped Lenderman as one of his favorites when he told us about six great indie country albums last year.

Lenderman will be on a solo tour with Waxahatchee this spring, with shows supporting Zach Bryan to follow. DBT and Hood also have shows coming up, including Jersey City, NJ’s White Eagle Hall on March 17, which is with Hood and John Moreland. See all dates below.
