On Tuesday night (June 24), Halsey brought her ‘For My Last Trick’ tour to the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in Salt Lake City, where she performed a brand new song titled ‘Carry The Weight’ for the first time ever.
Halsey said while introducing the track during her encore: “You’re going to be the very first people to hear a new song, what do you think of that? I have been secretly sound-checking it the entire tour, waiting for the right moment and I just have a really good feeling about you guys.”
She sings on the pop-rock song: “I could run away if I want to / I’m not gonna stay but I want you to know / I’ve been okay since I lost you / You just made a mistake and I want you to go / Just give me a break, how much more can I take? / This heavy feeling’s got me feeling we got carried away / I don’t wanna carry the weight.”

The song was performed during the surprise segment of her ongoing ‘For My Last Trick’ tour across North America. Prior to the tour’s kick-off, she took to social media to share a letter to her fans, where she suggested that its setlist will be ever-changing, and no two shows will include the same setlist.
‘Carry The Weight’ marks the second new song that Halsey has debuted since the release of her 2024 album ‘The Great Impersonator’ – she debuted ‘Safeword’ in February, releasing the track on streaming platforms along with a spicy music video.
Halsey’s North American ‘For My Last Trick’ tour is due to carry on until early July – find any remaining tickets and see the full list of tour dates here.
Just ahead of the tour’s kickoff, Halsey released a new single with Evanescence‘s Amy Lee titled ‘Hand That Feeds’. The dramatic song appeared on the soundtrack to the John Wick spin-off film Ballerina, which released on June 6.
In a five-star review of Halsey’s ‘The Great Impersonator’, NME wrote: “Looking back through her recent catalogue, ‘Manic’ is more stylistically diverse, ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ more musically ambitious, but ‘The Great Impersonator’ is Halsey’s most honest album – that is if you choose to believe her.”
The project landed at Number 39 on NME‘s 50 best albums of 2024 list, with the single ‘Lonely Is The Muse’ earning a place in our 50 best songs of the year run-down.
