Biffy Clyro have covered ‘Golden’ from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack – watch the performance below.

The Scottish trio recorded a session in the Live Lounge on BBC Radio 1 last week, ahead of releasing their new album ‘Futique’ on Friday (September 19).

They kicked off with a rendition of the record’s triumphant lead single, ‘A Little Love’, before taking on ‘Golden’ from Netflix‘s hit animated fantasy film – which follows K-pop girl group Huntr/x.

“I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago, and this song is just one of the catchiest songs of all time,” said frontman Simon Neil. “It’s a beautiful little pop song – beautifully constructed, beautifully produced.”

He added: “It’s the earworms of earworms. Everyone else is gonna be singing this all day after this.”

Following the semi-acoustic version of ‘Golden’ – complete with some orchestral strings – Neil explained: “I tell you, that song… I had to start low, ’cause that’s one of the hardest songs to sing in the world.”

He went on to say that Biffy “love the challenge” of taking on “the right wrong song” to cover. Watch Biffy Clyro perform ‘Golden’ and ‘A Little Love’ in the Live Lounge below, or listen in full via BBC Sounds.

Last month saw KPop Demon Hunters become the most-watched film in Netflix history. The movie surpassed the previous record holder, 2021’s Red Notice, with over 236million views.

It was previously reported that the streaming giant was already working on a live-action version of K-Pop Demon Hunters, as well as two animated sequels and a stage musical.

NME gave Biffy Clyro’s new album a four-star review, calling ‘Futique’ “one of their most personal and definitive records to date”.

It added: “There’s a vulnerability met with a forward motion; a feeling of three friends shining light through the cracks to find a renewed sense of purpose. You can holler ”Mon the Biff!’ for a while longer, it seems. A little love and a lot of noise goes a long way.”

The project also features the singles ‘True Believer’ and ‘Hunting Season’.

Biffy played an intimate gig in London on the eve of the LP’s release, ahead of some small acoustic shows in the UK next month. Their UK and Ireland arena tour will follow in January, with support from Soft Play and The Armed. You can find any remaining tickets here.

This summer saw Biffy Clyro headline TRNSMT in Glasgow, play a huge set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, host two shows at the Eden Sessions, and appear at various European festivals.
