Manchester United’s on loan winger Jadon Sancho was dumped out of the Carabao Cup with his Aston Villa side.

Debut

After spending last season on loan at Chelsea, Sancho was put up for sale this summer.

Nonetheless, he rejected a permanent move to AS Roma after United had accepted a bid for him.

On deadline day, he finally agreed to a loan deal that would see him move to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.

He was left on the bench in his side’s league match against Everton last weekend but was given a chance from the start in Villa’s 1-1 draw with Brentford in the cup.

They would later lose on penalties.

Hit the post

Sancho struggled to make much impact on the match but by far his biggest moment arrived when he almost scored Villa’s second goal of the match.

Evann Guessand broke forward in transition and played a ball across the goal.

Left in acres of space, Sancho ran onto the ball but somehow managed to clip the outside of the post with a left footed shot when he really should have scored.

It would prove to be a costly miss as just a few minutes later, Brentford would equalise.

He played 74 minutes of action, making two key passes in the match.

Sancho did fail to complete any long ball or connect with any crossing attempts during his time on the pitch.

The winger was also unsuccessful in his only dribble attempt and lost all three of his ground duels in an overall poor display.

He could next be in action when Villa travel to Sunderland in the league on Sunday afternoon.
