US deploys fighter jets, ships to the Middle East as Israel-Iran conflict escalates

The US has deployed additional fighter jets and refueling tankers to the Middle East to protect personnel and installations, US officials said Tuesday, as the conflict between Israel and Iran enters its sixth day. Despite voicing strong support for Israel, the US has so far avoided direct military involvement in the conflict.
