United’s lethal academy striker looking to be latest Welsh sensation to pull on famous red devil emblem

Manchester United have frequently attracted the best from the United Kingdom.

The country of Wales is no exception as in spite of its small size, it has produced some United legends.

The Red Devils currently have one very exciting Welsh talent in their academy at the moment as Gabriele Biancheri looks like he has what it takes to eventually make his mark on the first team.

1) Ryan Giggs
The Welsh legend Giggs was always going to top this list as no player has played as much football for the Red Devils than him.

In an incredible career that spanned 24 seasons, he won every trophy, including a colossal 13 Premier League titles.

Giggs mesmerised Old Trafford with his agility, pace and quality on the ball and 1990s Champions League nights were not complete without a jinking Ryan Giggs dribble.

2)Mark Hughes
The striker is a clear second in the most important Welsh players to represent the club.´

He enjoyed two spells at Old Trafford and would often light up the stadium with spectacular strikes.

His fight and determination to win was always on show and he developed the reputation as a big-game player, most notably scoring a brace in the European Cup winners’ Cup final victory over FC Barcelona in 1991.

3)Billy Meredith
Meredith was considered one of the first superstars of football and impressed for both Manchester United and City.

He was seen as a great crosser and passer and would excite the home faithful every time he got on the ball.

Meredith also found success, winning two leagues and an FA Cup.

4)Clayton Blackmore
The Welshman came through the United academy and represented the Red Devils for a total of 16 years.

He won the FA Cup and Premier League title, as well as the European Cup Winners’ Cup and Super Cup.

Blackmore was a wonderful defender but he also had the ability to step into midfield and show strong quality on the ball.

5)Mickey Thomas

Thomas failed to win a trophy at United but he did lose the FA Cup final in 1979.

He was a quick and skillful winger who excelled at taking players on, very much in the Old Trafford tradition.

The Welshman would spend three seasons at United before moving to Everton.

6) Jack Warner

Warner spent four years at Swansea City before transferring to United.

He made over 100 appearances for the club before moving to Oldham Athletic.

7) Thomas Bamford

He spent four seasons at Old Trafford, scoring an impressive 53 goals in 98 appearances.

The Welshman made his name at Wrexham before moving to Swansea Town in 1938.

8) Colin Webster

The Swansea native scored 26 goals for the Red Devils.

He also enjoyed spells at Welsh sides Swansea Town and Newport County,

Webster represented Wales in the 1958 World Cup.

9) Dan James

The pacey winger was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019 from Swansea City.

James would start well for the Red Devils, scoring three goals in August 2019 but would struggle to ever hit those heights again.

He was sold in 2021 and would play Premier League football for both Leeds United and Fulham.

10) Simon Davies

Davies came through the famed Manchester United academy and even scored in a Champions League match versus Galatasaray.

He won the FA Youth Cup in 1992 alongside the likes of Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

The Welshman left the club in 1997 for Luton Town.

11) Graham Moore
Moore was sold to United from Chelsea in 1963.

His time at Old Trafford was dampened by persistent injury problems and he only managed four goals for the club.

The midfielder was sold to Northampton Town after only one season.

12) Kenny Morgans
Morgans came through the United academy, signing for the youth team after leaving school.

He clearly made a positive impression, captaining the Youth Cup winning side of 1957.

Morgans was involved in the Munich Air Disaster at just 18 but survived and went on to play at the club until 1961.

13) Wyn Davies
Davies joined United from Manchester City in 1972.

He only managed one season at the club before he was sold to Blackpool.

The Welshman scored on his debut but could only score three more goals during his only season at the club.

14)Roy John
The Welsh international was a goalkeeper for the club between 1936-37.

He had a fleeting time at United as he was sold in March 1937 to Newport County.

15) Alan Davies
Davies was another Welshman who came through the United youth ranks.

He spent seven years at United but moved to Newcastle United in 1985 after failing to ever really make his mark on the senior team.
