United’s “immediate plan” is to “submit a formal offer” for versatile PL star – report

Manchester United’s interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is growing.

Anderson has emerged as the new jewel of English football, having grabbed Thomas Tuchel’s attention with his exploits at Forest. He recently put in a man of the match display for The Three Lions against Andorra.

The 22-year-old was a highly rated talent at Newcastle United, but the Magpies sold him to Forest last summer for £35m. He has gone from strength to strength since then, landing on United’s radar.

Manchester United consider bid for Anderson

According to Fichajes, United are prepared to put together an offer of around £50m for the newly-capped England international.

Anderson has emerged as Carlos Baleba’s alternative due to Brighton & Hove Albion’s exorbitant demands. 

The Forest star is appreciated at United for his versatility in the middle of the park.

Amorim’s system demands dynamic midfielders capable of working endlessly out of possession and playing quick line breaking passes.

Not only does Anderson excel at both, the 5’10” midfielder is also very combative in duels despite his relatively shorter frame.

United want Anderson in January

The Spanish outlet claim United’s “immediate plan” is to “submit a formal offer” for Anderson in January.

However, Forest are reluctant to lose their star midfielder mid-season, as they try to regroup under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Premier League giants are not ruling out the possibility of waiting for Anderson until next summer, as the Forest gem is viewed as a “long-term” option at United, who will part ways with Casemiro in the next 12 months.

United were open to offloading the Brazilian in the summer, but Casemiro decided to continue ahead of the World Cup. However, the veteran’s contract at Old Trafford runs out in June of 2026.
