Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will miss his side’s meeting with Everton later this evening due to a calf injury.
Despite showcasing his brilliance whenever available, Martinez’s Manchester United career has been plagued by injuries, preventing him from establishing a consistent run in the team.
The worst of his injuries came about in February last year when he sustained an ACL setback during a United meeting with Crystal Palace. The problem kept him sidelined for nine months, only returning in November.
He was a key player under now-sacked head coach Ruben Amorim – a trend that has carried forward since Michael Carrick’s arrival as interim head coach.
Martinez has started all five games Carrick has taken charge of, forming a solid defensive partnership with Harry Maguire. The pair have kept two clean sheets during that run and helped the club to memorable triumphs over Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham.
The Argentina international played the entirety of United’s last outing as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at the London Stadium.
Now, The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell reports, “Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will miss his side’s game against Everton due to a suspected calf injury.”
“United say they hope this latest problem will only keep him out for one to two weeks.”
This information has been corroborated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

As per journalist Gaston Edul, a reliable source for news involving Argentine players, Martinez won’t feature against Everton but will return to training this week and will likely be available for United’s upcoming fixtures.

Luckily for the Red Devils, it doesn’t appear like Martinez’s issue is too serious, despite the fact that he will be a big miss at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton vs. United kicks off at 8pm.
