United superstar denies asking to leave United, the ball is in INEOS’ court – report

Manchester United are currently trying to get quite a few big-name stars out of the club, with Marcus Rashford being one of them.

The Mancunian was reportedly open to returning for pre-season training, but United have asked him and four more — Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia not to return now and to try and find a new club in July.

Rashford, as per Henry Winter, has not asked to leave, but he knows that wth Ruben Amorim at the helm, he is unlikely to receive much game time.

The journalist also claimed that the 27-year-old wants to be included in England’s 2026 World Cup squad, and for that he will seek a move abroad.

Rashford’s future

“My understanding is that Marcus Rashford has not asked to leave Manchester United,” Winter wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“But he accepts he’s not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans and that he has to leave to get playing again and fulfil his ambition of going to the 2026 World Cup with England. A move abroad looks the next step.”

The pair had an infamous fall-out last term before the Manchester derby, after which the forward gave an interview to the very same journalist in which he claimed he was open to leaving his boyhood club.

Instead of giving it his all, the England international threw all his toys out of the pram, and Amorim opted to send him out on loan in January.

Casemiro also received harsh treatment, as did Garnacho, but both fought to convince the head coach, unlike the Carrington graduate.

Where will he go?

United had hoped Aston Villa would trigger the £40 million buy option, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League put paid to those hopes.

Marcus Rashford has not shied away from expressing his desire to join Barcelona, but his wage demands have meant a move has not materialised yet.

Bayern Munich are also in the hunt. INEOS will be hoping at least one of the pair can cough up the £40 million, so that they do not have to sanction another loan exit.

Rashford’s sale will count as pure profit in terms of PSR, a huge boost as the co-owners search for their ideal striker.
