United “regret” snubbing move for 25-yo star in favour of summer recruit – report

An Italian news outlet has made a bizarre claim about Manchester United and Fiorentina star Moise Kean after a summer transfer failed to materialise.

United considered Kean

Heading into the transfer window, which closed slightly more than a week ago, United made the signing of a top-class striker their primary objective.

A number of targets were considered, including Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Kean.

Kean enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign with Fiorentina, notching an impressive 25 goals and three assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

A €52m release clause was in effect from July 1 until July 15, during which he was available at that price. It’s believed that Kean was open to a blockbuster switch to Old Trafford.

However, United opted against making a concrete move for the Italy international, eventually snapping up Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

While he has yet to find the back of the net for United since joining the club, Sesko has demonstrated positive signs of his potential and the player he can develop into.

Ruben Amorim has repeatedly spoken glowingly of Sesko’s application on the training ground and it appears to be only a matter of time until the Slovenian explodes. However, TuttoJuve claim that United are ruing their failure to secure Kean’s signature.

United claim made about Kean

According to TuttoJuvethere is “regret” at United about missing out on Kean despite Sesko’s arrival.

The news outlet says that the Red Devils were offered the chance to sign Kean but they didn’t take up the opportunity.

They label Kean a “real bargain on paper” – possibly because of his goals and the fact that he was attainable for €52m, which is a relatively modest figure in today’s market for strikers.

But, while Kean may be the more reliable choice at present, Sesko is widely viewed as the one with greater long-term potential and a signing for the future. There’s no indication that United are dissatisfied with him, even as he continues to adapt to his new environment.
