Manchester United’s youngsters have been enjoying a fine season once again.

Positive records

The under-18s are in the semi-final of the Premier League Cup, where they will face West Ham United this Wednesday afternoon.

They also sit second in the league table, behind rivals Manchester City.

The under-21s have also been strong, sitting second in their league, one point behind Ipswich Town.

First team breakthroughs

There have also been some impressive breakthroughs this season, with Jack and Tyler Fletcher seeing action over the Christmas period.

Shea Lacey and Bendito Mantato were also given a first-team debut, with Lacey almost scoring a spectacular winner versus Burnley, only to see his wonderful effort cannon onto the crossbar from distance.

Youth Cup

United are also making good progress in the Youth Cup, something they take very seriously every year.

The Red Devils have won the competition a record 11 times, with the last victory coming in 2022 when goals from Rhys Bennett and Alejandro Garnacho won the cup.

They reached the semi-finals last season before losing to Aston Villa.

The Red Devils have beaten Derby County, Peterborough United and Oxford United to reach the quarter-finals this season.

The club’s official website has confirmed that, “Manchester United will face Sunderland in the FA Youth Cup at Old Trafford.”

The site explains that, “the last-eight encounter will take place on Wednesday 18 March, kicking off at 19:00 GMT.”

As a result, the league match scheduled for 14 March against the same opponent will be rescheduled at a later date.
