United have not given up on former Chelsea ace, INEOS ready to pounce if contract talks do not work out – report

Manchester United were linked with a surprising move for Nottingham Forest’s high-flying attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi following his heroics for his club last season.

But Forest, who have qualified for the Europa Conference League thanks to their seventh-place league finish, are in no mood to let the 24-year-old leave.

The former Chelsea ace’s current deal ends next summer, which explains the Red Devils’ interest, and Forest have opened talks over a new long-term deal, according to The Sun.

Ruben Amorim wants to add pace and power up top and despite Forest rejecting United’s advances in January, INEOS are open to trying again.

United continue to monitor Callum Hudson-Odoi

There is also interest from Italian giants Roma and Napoli, which is why a big- money extension is likely to be awarded to the versatile forward.

“NOTTINGHAM Forest have opened talks to tie down Callum Hudson-Odoi to a new deal as Roma, Napoli and Manchester United circle.

“Italian giants Roma and Napoli are sniffing around this summer for the three-time capped England international. And United are believed to be monitoring developments closely under new boss Ruben Amorim, who’s keen to add pace and creativity to his wide options.

“Forest are refusing to budge though and believe Hudson-Odoi sees his future at the club especially with Nuno Espirito Santo backed to spend big for their European adventure. Club chiefs are ready to reward Odoi with a big-money extension to fend off the growing interest.”

The England international bagged five goals and three assists and it remains to be seen if the player is happy with the offer.

Forest have opened talks over a new deal

A source close to the player told the publication, “Talks are ongoing and Forest have presented him with a new deal. He believes he could have helped more but for that so let’s see if he’ll be happy with the deal presented or not.”

In other words, Callum Hudson-Odoi will take a final call after seeing what kind of contract his club offer him.

In case he feels he has been undervalued, he could opt to jump ship given the interest he is generating. He currently earns £80,000 gross per week (via capology), and United can easily offer a lot more.

The forward can play on either side of the striker, as an attacking midfielder and even up top if needed, and such versatility would be welcomed by Amorim.

Whether United go after the Forest ace is likely to depend on how the Bryan Mbeumo deal pans out. Should the Red Devils miss out, they are more likely to look at alternatives like the Englishman.
