United braced for battle with Arsenal for French sensation who has been compared to a young N’Golo Kante – report

Keeping in mind Casemiro’s advancing years and Manuel Ugarte’s struggles in his debut campaign, Manchester United could do with someone like Lucien Agoume of Sevilla.

He has long been on the club’s radar, but with the Brazilian staying put, a move never quite materialised. It is surprising to see Teamtalk mention that the Red Devils are interested in the Frenchman.

The report mentions that Arsenal are in pole position for the 23-year-old but United have exploded in the race for the France U21 international who has been compared to a young N’Golo Kanté due to his all-action displays.

Given Sevilla’s financial struggles, they are open to letting the former Inter Milan ace leave for a fee closer to £20 million while an even lower fee could be agreed.

United vs Arsenal for Lucien Agoume

This explains the Red Devils’ interest with INEOS only eyeing low-cost additions to the midfield due to their pressing need to strengthen up top.

“Arsenal have emerged as frontrunners to sign Sevilla’s French defensive midfielder Lucien Agoume, though Manchester United and Tottenham are also keen, TEAMtalk understands.

“Sources confirm Arsenal have scouted Agoume multiple times this season, identifying him as a candidate to replace Thomas Partey, whose contract negotiations have stalled.

“Sevilla, aware of the growing buzz, may hold firm for a fee closer to £20m to maximize profit, but their precarious financial state could lead to a bargain.”

Sevilla open to cut-price sell

The report also mentions interest from former club Inter, as well as AC Milan and other Bundesliga sides, but none of them can compete with the riches of the English teams.

The midfielder is eager to move to England, and can play all across the midfield, something that will suit Ruben Amorim’s demands.

He has impressed with his “physicality, tactical awareness, and ability to anchor midfield” and it will be interesting to see if INEOS actually bite.

Ugarte is set to stay, as is Casemiro, with Amorim still having faith in the Uruguayan. Maybe, a loan approach is likely at this stage rather than a permanent acquisition.
