United battling with PSG to sign the “most complete” Bundesliga defender in stunning €60m deal – report

Manchester United defenders Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez have developed an impressive partnership at the back under Michael Carrick.

However, Maguire is nearing the end of his contract at United and there are question marks over the fitness of Martinez. Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven are still too inexperienced to be relied upon to start regularly for the Red Devils.

Manchester United interested in Edmond Tapsoba

According to Fussballdaten, Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba is the subject of intense interest ahead of the summer.

It is claimed United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have all added the Burkina Faso international to their shortlists. Real Madrid are also monitoring him.

United, in particular, view his physical qualities as “tailor-made” for the demands of the Premier League.

Tapsoba is also very composed with the ball at his feet and figures at Leverkusen regard him as the “most complete centre-back in the Bundesliga.”

Bayer Leverkusen set Tapsoba price tag

Leverkusen’s public stance is that they consider their defensive leader as one of the “untouchable” players, but internally “every player has his price.”

Tapsoba’s release clause is set between €95 million and €100m. However, his transfer will not be blocked if Leverkusen receive a figure in the region of €60m. He has just over two years left on his current deal in Germany.

€60m is still a significant figure for a defender. With United planning a major overhaul of their midfield, a high-profile defender like Tapsoba could be out of their reach.

Furthermore, the Red Devils are hoping to renew Maguire’s contract on reduced terms.
