United and PSG locked in battle for record-breaking attacker who is tempted to move to Old Trafford – report

Manchester United’s budget for the summer transfer window will be strongly influenced by their European fate.

A failure to secure Champions League football would leave United with a meagre transfer budget, which could potentially impact their plans to overhaul their midfield.

However, United are not waiting around to put themselves in a strong position to secure the signing of one of the Premier League’s most exciting young wingers.

PSG enter race to sign Mateus Mane

Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Manchester United have held initial talks with Mateus Mane‘s agent in recent days.

Mane’s emergence has been a rare bright spot in a miserable season for Wolverhampton Wanderers, getting fans off their seats with his mesmerising footwork and explosive pace.

In January, Mane became Wolves’ youngest ever Premier League goalscorer at 18 years and 109 days old.

However, with Wolves destined to be relegated to the Championship, it is going to be very difficult for the Midlands side to keep hold of the Portuguese-born versatile forward.

According to Teamtalk, Mane has been identified as a “top target” by United, but the Red Devils face competition from six other Premier League clubs as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Europe’s biggest clubs have been watching the 18-year-old in recent weeks, having been left impressed with his technical ability and maturity.

PSG, in particular, have intensified their interest in Mane, who could reportedly be tempted by the opportunity to join a top side.

The report adds that the Ligue 1 giants’ recruitment team have “watched Mane on more than one occasion since January.”

However, on Friday, a separate report claimed United are leading the race to sign the Wolves starlet, who is valued at around £50 million.

It is thought the idea of a move to Old Trafford is viewed as “incredibly appealing” to Mane despite interest from elsewhere.
