United ace not in talks to join historic club despite intense social media buzz – report

Casemiro’s future at Manchester United was up in the air this summer.

The Brazilian midfielder had displayed signs of regression in recent seasons, and the Red Devils were keen to sign a replacement this year. However, the Premier League giants’ quest for a new midfielder remained unfulfilled, and Casemiro ended up staying as well.

The 33 year old arrived at the Theatre of Dreams from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, and enjoyed a tremendous debut campaign.

He registered seven goals and six assists from 51 games in all competitions, playing a starring role in the Premier League giants’ EFL Cup triumph. However, Casemiro lost his form in the following campaign and also struggled to impress last season as his age began to show.

A first team regular this season

Casemiro worked hard on his fitness over the summer and has consequently usurped Manuel Ugarte from the starting XI this season. Ruben Amorim has preferred to pair Bruno Fernandes alongside the Brazilian in the midfield pivot, and the duo have done quite well together.

Casemiro has appeared in all five games in the Premier League, starting four of them, and also scored the winner against Chelsea last weekend. Interestingly, he also got sent off against the Blues and will now miss the league game against Brentford on Saturday, September 27.

The veteran midfielder’s contract expires in 2026, and United haven’t offered him a new deal. There’s an option in the deal for an additional year, which can be triggered by mutual consent.

However, Casemiro reportedly has no desire to extend his stay at Old Trafford, while the Red Devils are very unlikely to exercise that option as well. The Premier League giants are already planning to invest heavily in the position in 2026, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson among the players on their radar.

The situation has added to speculation regarding the Brazilian midfielder’s future, and Flamengo fans in particular are enticed by the prospect of his possible arrival for free next year.

Flamengo not in talks for Casemiro

Flamengo have prised away multiple big names from Europe in recent times. Fans, as such, cannot stop talking on social media about a possible move for a proven winner like Casemiro in 2026.

However, Gazeta do Urubu have rubbished those rumours, insisting that there have been no talks to facilitate such a deal. The report adds that Flamengo are not planning for 2026 at the moment.

The recent buzz, as such, appears to be nothing more than online chatter. Casemiro, though, won’t be short of options if he decides to try a new adventure at the end of this season.

The veteran midfielder reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from the Middle East this summer. Saudi clubs are likely to line up for him next year as well, although it is believed that the Brazilian would prefer to stay in Europe.
