However, given Luke Shaw’s fitness record, playing him every week out wide seems a risk, while Patrick Dorgu remains defensively vulnerable.

Diogo Dalot can operate on either flank, but a specialist left-back would have made more sense. They do have a gem in the academy who is a perfect fit.

Harry Amass, who had broken through under the former head coach in the last campaign, was expected to stay and fight for his place this season.

However, Amorim opted to send him away on loan, and even went on to criticise him in an extraordinary post-match rant.

The 18-year-old has shone for Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday, and was even adjudged their Player of the Month twice in a row.

Despite The Owls being keen to keep him onboard, the 20-time English league champions are all set to recall him from the Hillsborough Stadium.

Set for a loan spell higher up the Championship

However, the Carrington graduate will not be getting the chance to impress new caretaker Michael Carrick, as INEOS will try and find him another temporary home.

As per The Daily Mail, two promotion-chasing hopefuls, Stoke City and Watford, are vying for the England U19 international’s signature.

“Some of the younger players will go out on loan for the rest of the season.”

Performing for either will prove invaluable as Harry Amass tries to convince United to offer him a new deal.
