‘Trump wants to reverse history’, professor says as oil blockade pushes Cuba to the brink

The island economy was already struggling under the burden of decades of US sanctions, but the situation in Cuba has rapidly deteriorated since Donald Trump signed an executive order, threatening to impose tariffs on countries that sell or provide oil to the Caribbean nation. As airlines suspend flights to the island, long queues are forming at gas stations, with fewer buses running, and power cuts hitting homes, hospitals and other state institutions.
