Trump administration seeks Supreme Court order to maintain foreign aid spending freeze

The Trump administration on Monday requested an emergency order from the Supreme Court to uphold its decision to withhold nearly $5 billion in foreign aid. The move follows a federal judge’s ruling that the administration’s budget maneouvre – known as a “pocket rescission” – likely violates the law as it bypasses Congress’s authority over spending.
