Transfer war erupts over United star as Ineos signal they are ready to sell 24-yo baller – Ben Jacobs

It increasingly feels less like a question of if Joshua Zirkzee will depart this summer, and more a matter of who will secure his signature.

Although it has been suggested that end‑of‑season talks will determine his fate, the prevailing view is that the striker is more likely to leave than stay.

Consequently, Manchester United are expected to pursue an experienced forward to replace him.

Should the Dutchman move on, he will not be short of admirers. A host of Serie A clubs, PSV and Fenerbahçe are circling, while several Premier League sides are also keen.

While much of that interest has already been reported, transfer guru Ben Jacobs has revealed another serious contender entering the race for the 24‑year‑old.

Another suitor enters Zirkzee race

Jacobs, speaking to United Stand, said:

“Joshua Zirkzee is more likely to leave Manchester United this summer, with the club open to a sale.

“United will aim to avoid making a loss, while there is interest from Serie A, and Galatasaray have also recently shown interest.”

Zirkzee United switch never worked out

It is unfortunate that Zirkzee’s switch to Old Trafford never truly worked out.

A baller blessed with skill and quality, he has nevertheless struggled to deliver the end product by which strikers are judged.

Nine goals and four assists in 67 appearances is not enough, particularly for a player United had high hopes for and in whom they invested £36.5 million.

Cashing in now, amid a European transfer battle, and reinvesting in an experienced striker makes perfect sense.

Such a signing could provide genuine competition for Benjamin Sesko and help extract the best from the Slovenian.

Until the summer shake‑up, though, Zirkzee’s destination remains a mystery, one that will only be solved when the window opens. For now, all eyes will be on how his transfer saga unfolds.
