Bummer news for Jenny Hval fans: the Norwegian artist has canceled her seven-date September North American tour. “For various reasons I’m not able to travel to North America in September, and so we have had to cancel the tour we had planned,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thanks so much for your understanding — I’m really sorry for the change and hope to see you at another show soon.”
GREET DEATH / AWAKEBUTSTILLINBED
Greet Death, who just released the great Die in Love, have announced fall dates with awakebutstillinbed, hitting the Midwest, Southwest and West Coast in November. Before that they’ll be out with Nation of Language.
ULCERATE / SPIRIT POSSESSION
New Zealand experimental death metallers Ulcerate will be making a rare visit to this side of the planet this fall and at most shows they’ll be joined by Portland’s Spirit Possession.
LEVITATION HALLOWEEN FREEKEND (VIAGRA BOYS, STEREOLAB, MORE)
Austin’s Levitation festival is presenting a two-night Halloween Freekend at Far Out Lounge. Friday, 10/31 features Viagra Boys and Stereolab with The Black Lips, Bitchin Bajas, and J’Cuzzi; while 11/1 has Machine Girl, Clown Core, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lightning Bolt, Lip Critic, Porcelain and Haha Laughing.
OMNI
Atlanta’s Omni just wrapped up a tour with Tropical Fuck Storm and they’ll be back in NYC later this summer for a free show at Baby’s All Right on 8/21 with Grumpy. (Secure free tickets here.) They’ll be back on the road starting in September, including shows with The Convenience, Benét, and Piss.
SUN RA ARKESTRA
Sun Ra Arkestra, still led by Marshall Allen — who just turned 101! — have a busy summer of shows, including stops in Montreal, San Francisco and Los Angeles. They’ve also just announced that they are the TBA artist at the final free Summer Thunder show at Union Pool on August 24 (which you might have already guessed, they play every year).
