‘The Beast In Me’ ending explained: does Aggie find out the truth about Nile?

**Warning: spoilers ahead**

The Beast In Me is the latest Netflix drama getting people talking, but does Aggie find out the truth about Nile by the end? Find out below.

The show has been created by Gabe Rotter and it stars Claire Danes as the acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, who is mourning the death of her young son and has withdrawn from public life, unable to write the follow-up to her celebrated debut novel.

A strange inspiration comes in the form of the arrival of a new neighbour, Matthew Rhys’ Nile Jarvis, a real estate mogul who she learns was once the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife. Aggie finds herself hunting for the truth behind the mystery, but is aware of the potential danger that lies in store.

Jodie Foster and Conan O’Brien both serve as executive producers on the show, and all eight episodes debuted on Netflix on Thursday (November 13).

The show currently sits on an 83 per cent rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus stating: “A cut above usual murder mystery, The Beast In Me stages a psychological duel that crackles with tension thanks to Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys’ superb performances.”

In the final episode, Aggie is still wrestling with the guilt and sorrow of the death of her son, but she has become increasingly uneasy about Nile’s behaviour. Her suspicions had heightened after the death of FBI agent Brian Abbott, who had been trying to warn her about Nile’s involvement in serious crimes.

The truth about Nile finally emerges not through Aggie’s actions, however, but as a result of Nina, Nile’s assistant and later wife. Nina had initially supported him, but when she sees Nile try to frame Aggie for the murder of Teddy, the man responsible for her son’s death, she caves and records Nile’s confession to the murders of both Teddy and his previous wife Madison.

The recording leads to his downfall and he is seen serving multiple life sentences, and once Aggie learns of the truth, the weight on her conscience is lightened. She goes to interview him in prison in the hope of completing her new book, but he is killed after just one session in an attack arranged by his uncle Rick.

The dramatic conclusion provides Aggie with the context to gain closure over the grief and anger surrounding her son’s death and she publishes the second book with added contentment to her life. Nina, however, ends the show caring for her and Nile’s baby, worrying about the impact of the ordeal on their future.
