Ten Hag favourite’s career hits a new low post United exit as club release statement

Things have gone from bad to worse for ex-Manchester United forward Omari Forson as his troubled stint at Monza suffers a fresh blow.

Forson’s time at Monza so far

Forson, who came through the ranks at United, parted ways with the club in the summer of 2024.

He broke into the first team under Erik ten Hag, who was believed to be an admirer of the player. Forson made his senior United debut against Wigan Athletic, when he came on from the bench during an FA Cup third-round fixture.

In doing so, he became the 249th player to have progressed from United’s academy to the senior team.

The Red Devils were keen on keeping him and even offered him multiple contracts but he turned them all down, electing to go elsewhere in search of guaranteed first-team minutes.

Forson signed for Monza but things have so far not gone according to plan.

Last term, he made just 11 appearances across all competitions as Monza were relegated to Serie B. His only start for the side came in the Coppa Italia.

Monza, sitting 11th in Italy’s second division and chasing promotion, will be without Forson for some time after he sustained a serious injury.

The club issued a statement confirming that Forson had successfully undergone surgery.

A club statement read, “The arthroscopic right knee surgery for a meniscal injury undertaken by Omari Forson has been successfully completed.”

“The operation was performed at CUF Porto Clinic in Portugal.”

The hope is that Forson makes a swift recovery and returns to action soon. At just 21, he still has ample time to reignite his career and fulfil his vast potential.
