Target has announced that it will be opening 500 stores at midnight to sell Taylor Swift‘s new album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.
The pop star is set to release her 12th studio album on October 3, following on from last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. She has confirmed numerous physical variants of the LP, and already broken a Spotify record with the project.
Now, as reported by Variety, it has been revealed that Target will be opening select stores across the US at midnight local time on October 3 to sell copies of Swift’s new full-length. It will be available as exclusive variants and the standard edition.
According to the retail chain, approximately 500 branches are taking part in the midnight sales campaign.
Target has already launched a dedicated store locator page, which shows the participating outlets – you can see that here. Alternatively, fans can pre-order the variants online here.
It has been noted that midnight sales were commonplace in the ’80s, ’90s and early ’00s, before the streaming, downloading and digital age. However, unlike this past phenomenon, the shops won’t close and then re-open between the late sales of ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.

Target confirmed that the participating branches will stay open beyond normal trading hours, and then make the stock of Swift’s album available at the designated hour. Fans can also pre-order ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ online via Target here.
‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ was co-produced by Max Martin and Shellback, alongside Swift herself. The pop star has shared the full tracklist for the album, which boasts a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track.
Swift has described the LP as “the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time”. The project will focus on “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life” during the record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’.
Speaking on New Heights, Swift said there were “no other songs coming” beyond the standard tracklist: “With ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, I was like, ‘Here’s a data dump of everything I thought and felt in two or three years. Here’s 31 songs’. This is 12. There’s not a 13th, there’s not other ones coming.”
Swift’s appearance on New Heights came shortly before she announced her engagement to Kelce. The NFL player’s father has since shared some details about the “beautiful” proposal.
Meanwhile, there is currently speculation about Swift potentially headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2026.
Swift has attended the last two Super Bowls to support Kelce, helping the 2024 game become the most-watched broadcast in US TV history since the 1969 moon landing. This year, her reaction to being booed by Eagles fans at the event went viral.
