“Sources have confirmed”: United midfielder not going anywhere in January despite exit rumours – report

Ruben Amorim’s treatment of several Manchester United stars has raised eyebrows during his year-long tenure.

Kobbie Mainoo is the most recent example, while last season, it was Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Casemiro who bore the brunt of his ire.

However, one player who has remained a favourite of the head coach is Mason Mount, despite his struggles with injury.

The head coach found out quite early on in his stint that the ex-Chelsea ace was comfortable playing in his 3-4-3 system, having played in a similar set-up during his time in London.

Mason Mount: improvement in form and fitness

His pressing from the front, intensity off the ball, and quality on it won Amorim over, who just needed to find a way to manage his workload a bit better to avoid constant breakdowns.

And his usage of the England international has been just right this season, playing 15 times while scoring three goals and registering one assist.

The 26-year-old has missed just one game due to injury, and has even completed 90 minutes twice already this term.

Hence, it was surprising to note that the England international was being readied for a transfer in 2026.

United not entertaining rumours of a sale

But Teamtalk have disputed those rumours, and claimed Mason Mount is going nowhere anytime soon with the versatile midfielder very happy in Manchester, and the club is also delighted with his resurgence.

“Manchester United are very happy with Mason Mount, who in-turn is very happy at Old Trafford, and there is little thought of him departing the club any time soon, our sources have confirmed.

“It has been suggested in some quarters that Mount could be one of the players that Man Utd move on from in 2026 – but that has been denied by sources close to both the club and player.

“Now Mount is enjoying the best run of game time since moving north. Indeed, he has already started more games this season than at any other point in his United career.

Mason Mount very happy at United

“Mount is very happy under Amorim, and the United boss is delighted with how he has overcome his injuries. Sources with knowledge of the situation, from the club and player side, have expressed shock to us that he has been linked with an exit.”

In fact, many at the club believe Mason Mount is showing the kind of form that can finally see him earn a recall into the national team setup.

His former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is now at the helm, and even though he does not think the United No.7 is ready, things can change between now and the end of the season.

With Bruno Fernandes sidelined, and Amad and Bryan Mbeumo away on AFCON duty, the 20-time English league champions will be increasingly looking towards the Portsmouth-born ace for creativity.
