Sabrina Carpenter shares alternate album cover “approved by God” for ‘Man’s Best Friend’

Sabrina Carpenter has shared an alternate album cover “approved by God” following accusations of sexism over the album’s original artwork.

The singer is soon to release her seventh studio album ‘Man’s Best Friend‘ on August 29, and has so far shared “song of the summer” ‘Manchild‘ as its lead single.

However, Carpenter received significant backlash when she revealed the album cover. it depicts Carpenter kneeling on the floor, as an unidentified person stands beside her and pulls on her hair. Some have criticised the cover as leaning on “tired tropes that reduce women to pets”, and Carpenter has responded saying: “I can not give a fuck about it”

Now, Carpenter has taken to social media to share an alternate version of the album cover. She cheekily added that the cover was “approved by God”.

Take a look at Sabrina Carpenter’s alternate cover for ‘Man’s Best Friend’ below:

This is not the first time Carpenter has received complaints about her display of sexuality in her art. In March, Carpenter attracted controversy when her pre-watershed performance at the BRITs saw her kneel in front of a male dancer, who winked at the camera as she disappeared offscreen.

She has also responded to criticism for her stage shows, which often see the singer embrace her sexuality, by saying: “Don’t come to the show.” In January, Carpenter also hit out against Stock, Aitken & Waterman’s “regressive” comments after they criticised her outfits and “lazy” sexualised lyrics.

“My message has always been clear – if you can’t handle a girl who is confident in her own sexuality, then don’t come to my shows,” she said at the time.

Elsewhere, Miley Cyrus has voiced her concern for Sabrina Carpenter’s wellbeing due to her exhausting touring schedule.
