Race begins to replace Anne Hidalgo as Paris mayor

The two main candidates in Paris’ mayoral elections have begun their campaigns. France’s mayoral elections will take place in March and for the first time in 12 years, Paris will have a new mayor. Leading the race to replace Anne Hidalgo, who’s stepping down after completing her second mandate, is fellow Socialist Emmanuel Grégoire, who currently leads the first-round polls. But seeking to snap a 25-year left-wing leadership in the capital, is right-wing candidate Rachida Dati.
