Public Enemy have returned with their first album in five years, which they surprise released today as a pay-what-you-want release on Bandcamp. It’s titled Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025 and was produced by Chuck D and Flavor Flav, along with Lorrie “The LBX” Boula, and Rhiannon Rae Ellis.
Unlike their 2020 album What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down? — their first for Def Jam since 1998 — there are no big name guests, just Chuck D and Flava Flav laying it down in their signature style. The album does include their recent single “March Madness” which closes the record. Listen below.
Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025, which is out on Enemy Records and not Def Jam, is a free download for 72 hours, and the vinyl and CD editions will be out October 10.
Public Enemy are on tour, including European dates supporting Guns N’ Roses, plus appearances at Newport Folk Festival, and Asbury Park’s Sea.Hear.Now festival. All date are below.
While this album is not on Def Jam, Chuck D’s new solo album Radio Armageddon was.
