Park Hyatt Johannesburg is opening July 1 — and you can book it from 21,000 points

The brand-new Park Hyatt Johannesburg has moved up when it will start welcoming guests by a month, with its new opening date now just around the corner.

The highly anticipated property, a conversion of The Winston Hotel in the city’s popular Rosebank area, is accepting reservations for stays starting July 1, according to the hotel’s website. The intimate space will be the world’s smallest Park Hyatt, general manager Mitch Gemmell told TPG. It’ll feature just 31 rooms and suites.

“Every element — including the curated guest experiences, dining, rooms [and] suites — has been thoughtfully considered to create an intimate and sophisticated retreat in the heart of Rosebank,” Gemmell said.

When it opens in July, rooms at the Park Hyatt Johannesburg will offer luxurious, round soaking tubs; modern marble and glass touches; and plush seating options. They will also feature private terraces overlooking the hotel’s lush gardens. The property will have several suites, including a wellness suite with special relaxation spaces and rejuvenating amenities. Outside, guests will have year-round access to the heated courtyard pool.

Dining promises to be a distinct experience, thanks to a trio of options. The Dining Room will showcase open-flame cooking, while The Terrace will allow guests to dine alfresco. The Lounge will be a casual indoor space focused on Cape wines and Cuban cigars.

“Our focus is on delivering understated luxury, where the art of hospitality is defined by personalized service, curated experiences and a deep sense of place,” Gemmell said. “As we prepare to welcome our first guests, our vision remains clear: to offer an experience that is both globally sophisticated and deeply connected to Johannesburg’s vibrant energy.”

Just beyond the property’s walls, Gemmell said the surrounding Rosebank area “is home to some of the city’s most exciting restaurants, design studios and contemporary art spaces, offering guests an immersive and enriching stay.”

How to book: For the best deal, skip the “Member Bed & Breakfast” rate and instead book the “Member Grand Opening” rate at $450 per night, as it includes breakfast. If you want to use World of Hyatt points, expect award nights at this Category 6 property to start at 21,000 points per night.
