Liam and Noel Gallagher’s mother, Peggy, has revealed in an interview that she was the “instigator” of the forthcoming Oasis reunion shows.
The legendary Manchester band embark on their Live ’25 tour next month, starting July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, and ending on November 23 at the Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil. They will play five dates each at Manchester’s Heaton Park and Wembley Stadium in London.
It will be the first time the brothers have played together since Oasis broke up in 2009. Speaking to Ireland’s Mail on Sunday (via Metro UK), she was asked if she had anything to do with the reunion. “I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn’t it always going to happen at some time or other?” she replied. “It was their choice, of course. Look you can’t force them to do things they don’t want to do”.
The 82-year-old confessed she was relieved to see her sons working together again, following a years-long rift between the two. “It’s great, because nobody wants their kids falling out, do they?” she said, although she admitted to being nervous about the shows. “I’ll be glad when it’s all just over because it makes me get too stressed” she said.
“This is it, this is happening”

Later in the interview, Peggy said she would be attempting to make the trip to Dublin to see the band play, providing she is able to after a recent knee replacement operation. “I’m hoping to get to the Oasis concert in Dublin in August if I can hobble around” she said. “That’s my plan anyway… it will be great”.
Peggy remains a beloved presence in her sons’ lives, following a difficult childhood where she took them away from her abusive husband Tommy.
Liam recalled in 2018: “I was about seven when my mam left my dad, he was out all the time, fighting, beating my mam up, beating Noel and (older brother) Paul up. Never touched me, though. Then, one night, while he was out, my mam got her brothers round, got all our gear in a truck, left him a mattress, and we went off to our new house”. He later said: “It was immediately better for all of us”.
Becoming a loving and supporting parental figure in the absence of her ex-husband, Peggy would encourage Liam and Noel to reconcile, telling The Mirror in 2011: “I want them to sort it out”. However, Noel said he was surprised at his mother’s casual reaction to the reunion, saying last December: “When we told her we were getting back together, she said, ‘Sure, that will be nice’. That was it”.
The Gallagher Brothers recently reunited on camera to launch a line of Adidas Originals gear, although the ad was met with some criticism. Liam took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the disapproval, remarking “Oasis don’t discriminate”.
