My New Band Believe (black midi’s Cameron Picton) announce debut album & tour, share “Numerology”

Former black midi bassist/vocalist Cameron Picton launched the new group My New Band Believe last year, and they’ve now announced their self-titled debut album, which will be out April 10 via Rough Trade. The album features contributions from most of caroline, as well as Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble, Andrew Cheetham, and more. He notes that the album is almost entirely acoustic, “using the barest amount of reverb and electronic effects possible.”

My New Band Believe have also shared a new single that is not on the album, and it’s pretty great. “Numerology” is a swaggering, sashaying slice of sophistipop that incorporates elements of disco and tropicalia. The single, which comes with a bunch of remixes, is available bundled with the album and comes as a bonus disc with the CD release. Watch the video for “Numerology” below.

Cameron will be taking My New Band Believe on a short East Coast North American tour this spring, including stops at NYC’s Mercury Lounge on May 30 and Tubby’s Kingston on June 1. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 20 at 10 AM local time and all dates are listed below.
