“The Muppets Script” is an ongoing series where classic Muppets movie scripts are read — and sung! — live in front of an audience by a cast of current comedy stars, with proceeds going to charity. The latest event will be “The Muppets Take Scripthattan” at Brooklyn’s The Bell House on October 24, and if it wasn’t clear, they’ll be doing a live script read of 1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan.
Participating performers are a Who’s Who of comedy/improv/podcasts, including Paul F. Tompkins, Bobby Moynihan, John Hodgman, Scott Adsit, Marc Evan Jackson, Nina West, James Monroe Iglehart, Janet Varney, Loosey LaDuca, Griffin Newman, Oscar Montoya, Aabria Iyengar, Erika Ishii, and more. And yes, they do the songs, too. Proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.
If you can’t make it to The Bell House, “Muppets Take Scripthattan” will stream live via VEEPS on 10/24 at 7:30 PM Eastern / 4:30 Pacific. You can either buy a one-time rental that’s available for 48 hours after the performance, or watch with a VEEPS subscription.
