Celebrity chef and The Bear actor/producer Matty Matheson‘s new hardcore band Pig Pen (with Alexisonfire’s Wade MacNeil, Daniel Romano, and others) continue to make waves, and they’ve now announced their first shows since making their live debut in Toronto this past April. They happen at Welland, Ontario’s Welland Legion Branch 4 on July 3 and NYC’s TV Eye on July 5, and they’re both billed as album release shows for Pig Pen’s forthcoming debut LP Mental Madness. This fall, Pig Pen will make their festival debut at Furnace Fest.
Support on both shows comes from other bands in the hardcore scene, including Pig Pen drummer Ian Romano’s Buffalo-based band Corrosives, who are on both shows. The Welland show also features two other Buffalo bands, Exhibition and Big Dog; and the NYC show will be headlined by Baltimore’s Jivebomb, with NYC locals Dog Breath also on the bill. Tickets for both are on sale now (click the venue links above).
Along with the show announcements, Pig Pen shared another track from the album, “Venom Moon Rising.” It’s a sludgy metallic hardcore song that’s pretty damn vicious and you can hear it below. The LP drops next week (6/27) via Flatspot.
