Mads Mikkelsen spotted eating at Leeds Indian restaurant

Leeds Indian restaurant UYARE by Tharavadu got a visit from a Hollywood star when Mads Mikkelsen came to dine with them.

Known for his roles as the villain in James Bond film Casino Royale as well as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, the Danish actor visited the establishment with filmmaker Lee Smith (Dunkirk, 1917) and producer Pascal Degove. The group are currently working together on the thriller Sirius.

Speaking to Leeds Live, the restaurant revealed the actor had Pothu Koonu Masala, a Kunjaadu Curry and a Chammeen Roast, along with Kerala Parathas and Carrot Coconut Rice. He reportedly described it as a “truly unforgettable” experience and took pictures with the staff, which were shared by the restaurant.

This isn’t the first time a famous actor has surprised customers at a UK Indian restaurant. In 2021, while filming the action blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Tom Cruise stopped by Asha’s in Birmingham, who confirmed that he enjoyed himself so much he ordered the same meal twice.

“It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tom Cruise to Asha’s Birmingham yesterday evening” the restaurant’s social media wrote at the time. “Tom ordered our famous Chicken Tikka Masala and enjoyed it so much that as soon as he had finished, he ordered it all over again – The greatest compliment”.

Recently, Mads Mikkelsen returned to his villainous Bond role of Le Chiffre in the Hitman video game series. “I’ve had a lot of love for this character, it means a lot to me,” the actor said during the announcement at the IO Showcase. “So when I got the chance to step into the shoes of Le Chiffre again, I didn’t hesitate.

“But this time is a little different. He’s more confident, he’s dangerous, he’s not just a brilliant mind hiding behind a desk. He’s visceral, unpredictable and ruthless, and this time, he doesn’t outsource the violence anymore.”
