Madonna has revealed that she’s returning to dance music for a new album that’s due out in 2026 on Warner Records. It’s her first album since 2019’s Madame X, and she says, “From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer. Since the beginning Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations.”
“We are honored to welcome Madonna back home to Warner Records,” Tom Carson and Aaron Bay-Schuck, co-chairmen of Warner Records, say. “Madonna isn’t just an artist—she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut. For decades, she has not only defined the sound of global pop music but also reshaped culture itself with her vision, innovation, and fearless artistry. This signing represents a historic, full circle moment, one that brings her back to the label where it all began and reaffirms her unparalleled influence, setting the stage for an exciting new era of creativity and impact.”
Madonna first announced her return to Warner in 2021, after 10 years with Interscope as part of a 360 deal with Live Nation. She also did a surprise Comedy Cellar set in January, and released Veronica Electronica, which was intended as a companion to Ray of Light, in July.
Speaking of Madonna and record labels, Deftones were also just making headlines after Chino Moreno reflected on Madonna’s former label Maverick signing the band early on, and for saying he feels Deftones have followed the “Madonna model” with their own career trajectory.
“Just looking at her career from a fan’s perspective, I love the diversity of what she’s done over the years and how many times she has reinvented herself,” he told The Irish Times. “I don’t look at her as a person trying to fit into any one creative area. I think she has always made what she wanted to make.”
“She probably didn’t make a lot of her fans who like her for certain reasons happy with this or that album, but it made her happy,” he continued. “You know by listening to her albums, her songs, that they are exactly what she wants to be doing and where she wants to be at any given time. I definitely think we’ve followed that model.”
