Madagascar military announces it has taken power amid mass protests

An elite Madagascar military unit said it has taken power in the country after the national assembly voted to impeach President Andry Rajoelina on October 14, 2025. Earlier in the day, the president had announced the dissolution of the lower house in a failed attempt to block the vote.
