Macron calls Musk ‘over-subsidised,’ pushes Europe to support domestic industry

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday pointed to government backing for Elon Musk’s Starlink as evidence of the need for stronger public investment in European industry, drawing a rebuke from the billionaire after calling him “oversubsidised.” Speaking in Antwerp, Macron urged a “Buy European” strategy financed partly through joint EU borrowing.
