“Love it, mate”: United dressing room purrs as loanee shines away from Old Trafford

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has been impressing in Spain for FC Barcelona.

Fine season

The 28-year-old has taken to life in La Liga like a duck to water, contributing to 23 goals in all competitions.

Rashford is currently on loan at the Catalan club, but it seems likely he will stay permanently after the summer.

There were rumours that the departure of Ruben Amorim as manager at Old Trafford might see him make a return.

Nonetheless, recent reports have refuted this and only confirmed his desire to stay and Barcelona’s ambition to make the deal permanent this summer for £30.3 million.

Fans in United’s dressing room

It seems that Rashford is not only impressing Barcelona fans, but his form is also attracting the attention of some of his former teammates at United.

Mundo Deportivo reports that, “the England international winger’s performance for the Blaugrana has generated both surprise and delight in British football circles.”

The Spanish media outlet was also incredibly complimentary of Rashford’s performance versus RCD Mallorca at the weekend, where “he shouldered much of the attacking responsibility for the league leaders during the most crucial moments of the game.”

The paper points out that after winning the Super Cup in January, some of Rashford’s former teammates took to social media to congratulate him on the victory.

Former captain Harry Maguire posted, “I love it, mate,” accompanying his comment with a clapping emoji.

The current club captain, Bruno Fernandes, penned “Congratulations, brother” and added a red heart emoji.

Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee also got in on the act, posting, “Congratulations, brother.”

What comes next

FC Barcelona and Rashford will next be in action when they travel to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on Thursday evening.
