Muse have returned with a new single, ‘Unravelling’ – you can listen to it below.
The trio debuted the track as they kicked off their current European tour in Helsinki, Finland last week. This came after a series of teaser posts online, with Matt Bellamy and co. telling fans they were “back at it”.

‘Unravelling’ was produced by Bring Me The Horizon collaborator Dan Lancaster, who was recruited by Muse as their new live member in 2022.
“An insect trapped in amber, I’m a fading pulse/ The ecstasy was false/ Our love is an unlit script no one can memorise/ Redacted and revised/ I’ll lie beside you and I’ll try to play along,” Bellamy sings in the brooding, arpeggiated synth-led first verse.
The frontman goes on to describe himself as “a static hum” who is “no longer happy dumb“. Then, ‘Unravelling’ switches gear into a heavier, dirty instrumental before unleashing an explosive breakdown ahead of a euphoric chorus.
“Feeling the glow/ Die inside of our bones/ This is a hymn for our love/ With no God and no throne,” Bellamy belts out, with ‘Unravelling’ quickly flicking back into another sparse, electro-tinged verse.
The lyrical themes and sound of Muse’s new track blends the heavier space-rock elements of ‘Origin Of Symmetry’, ‘Absolution’ and ‘Black Holes And Revelations’ with the more subtle synth moments from ‘The 2nd Law’ and ‘Simulation Theory’.
Grammy nominee Lancaster previously mixed Muse’s 2022 single ‘Won’t Stand Down’. He currently performs keyboards and additional guitar in Muse’s expanded live band on tour.
Lancaster also took on mixing duties for Bring Me The Horizon’s 2015 album ‘That’s The Spirit’, 2019’s’ ‘Amo’, various songs on their ‘Post Human: Survival Horror’ mini album/EP, and is credited as a producer on ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’.
Additionally, he has worked with the likes of Blink-182, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Mallory Knox and One OK Rock.
‘Unravelling’ is the first preview of Muse’s forthcoming 10th album – details of which are expected in the coming months. The band released their ninth and latest full-length record, ‘Will Of The People’, in 2022.
They’ve been opening their recent shows with the new single, prior to its official release today (June 20), and will headline Hellfest 2025 tonight. From there, Muse are set to make appearances at numerous other European events such as Pinkpop, Open’er, Mad Cool and NOS Alive.

Back in February, bassist Chris Wolstenholme talked about the future of Muse, and suggested that the trio were thinking about a new album – which could be arriving next year.
“I think we’re gonna start work on the next record fairly soon,” he said, explaining that the group weren’t signed to a label at the time.
“I think for the last few albums we’ve been with Warner and we’ve extended after each album,” the musician continued. “We may do the same again; we may go with a new label, who knows.”
As for when fans could expect the next Muse LP, Wolstenholme revealed that they would be starting work “very, very soon, like in the next couple of months”. “I would imagine that 2026 will be a new album, barring any disasters,” he commented.
