Lessons from Past Israeli-Palestinian Talks for Trump’s Negotiators

There is a long history of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, often involving the United States as the primary negotiator. However, as the Oct. 7 attacks and war in Gaza demonstrated, neither Israelis nor Palestinians feel safe. As Israel’s recent moves to expand its control over the West Bank showed, the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state — and thus a two-state solution — is a dimmer prospect than ever.
