Latest setback for Ineos comes to the fore with further drama at OGC Nice – report

Manchester United owners Ineos have not had the easiest time lately.

Problems at Man United

The Red Devils have had a chaotic start to 2026 with the sacking of former manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese was replaced by Michael Carrick, who has brought in an entirely new coaching staff to see out the rest of the season.

There have also been poor performances on the pitch, which have seen United win only one match in their last seven games.

Consequently, fan unrest has continued to grow and The 1958 protest group have announced plans to demonstrate against Sir Jim Ratcliffe before the home match against Fulham on 1st February.

Financial problems and OGC Nice issues

Ineos as a company are having their own financial issues, and it has been reported that they may need economic backers to support the work they want to achieve at Old Trafford.

Furthermore, Ineos are also currently facing a major backlash from fans of one of their other football teams, OGC Nice.

The French side were recently pelted with objects by their own fans, and Ratcliffe and co. were recently branded “incompetent” by OGC Nice fan club leader Solange Claude.

Drop in sale price

Ineos now face yet another setback, according to recent reports.

Bloomberg report that, “billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has slashed the asking price for French football team OGC Nice, according to people with knowledge of the matter.”

The company had been “seeking more than €200 million ($233 million) for Nice, some of the people said.
Potential buyers have been reluctant to pay that much and the price has now come down significantly, according to the people, who asked not to be identified discussing confidential information.”

Falling attendances and poor performances on the pitch have contributed to the club’s drop in value under Ineos’ tenure.
