Key Lebanese-French accuser in Sarkozy Libya funding probe dies on eve of verdict

The key accuser in former French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s alleged illegal campaign financing from the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi died on Tuesday, just two days before the verdict, his lawyer said. Ziad Takieddine claimed that he helped deliver up to five million euros from Gaddafi to the ex-head of state, before abruptly retracting his testimony in 2020.
