Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard Share Song From New Neptunes EP: Listen

Composer and producer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has teamed up with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard for a new EP: Neptunes is out November 22 via the Domino imprint Smugglers Way. The two artists have also released the project’s title track, along with a mollusk-filled video directed by Aron Sanchez-Baranda. Check it out below.

On “Neptunes,” Goddard wanted to pay homage to Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo’s influential production partnership of the same name. Smith, however, thought the title had a more cosmic inspiration. “I loved what the rhythm made me feel when I first heard it,” she said in press materials. “I actually thought he was tapping into Neptune as a planet, and the qualities I felt it possesses. So my side of things brought out more space-themed sounds as a result.”

Smith’s most recent studio album, Let’s Turn It Into Sound, arrived in 2022. Goddard issued his third solo album, Harmonics, earlier this year.
