Kaiser Chiefs fans fume that their Glastonbury 2025 set isn’t aired live: “This is sacrilege”

Kaiser Chiefs fans watching Glastonbury 2025 from home have expressed frustration that their set was omitted from the BBC‘s live coverage.

The Leeds band kicked things off at the Pyramid Stage at 12pm today (June 28), but fans expecting to see their performance live were instead shown repeats of yesterday’s headline set from The 1975.

One X/Twitter user tagged BBC iPlayer, who are airing sets from the Worthy Farm festival live across the weekend, and said: “I would appreciate live content from Glastonbury i.e. The Kaiser Chiefs, not two presenters gushing over last night’s content.”

Despite Matty Healy and co.’s performance earning a four-star review from NME, many were unimpressed, with one fan joking: “Dad’s absolutely fuming they aren’t showing the Kaiser Chiefs on the bbc, absolutely refuses to accept the 1975.”

Another replied to a post the band shared ahead of their performance, writing: “@bbcglasto sure misses your kickass set at #Glastonbury2025 “I Predict A Riot” if they don’t get their act together!”

In other BBC news, the broadcaster confirmed earlier today that they were “delighted” to announce Neil Young’s headline set will be streamed after all.

Young and his band The Chrome Hearts are set to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage later today (June 28). Since he first pulled out of the Worthy Farm festival – calling it a “corporate turn-off” over the BBC’s involvement back in January – there’s been speculation as to whether his set would be broadcast.

Earlier this month, Young appeared to be omitted from the BBC’s coverage plans, with a spokesperson for the broadcaster telling NME that their “schedules and plans continue to be finalised, right up to and during the festival”. Glasto boss Emily Eavis then added that she “didn’t believe” that his set would be shown.

Even once gates opened at the festival, it seemed certain that fans at home wouldn’t be able to catch Young’s performance, with the BBC saying on Thursday (June 26) that they wouldn’t be streaming his set “at the artist’s request”.

However, it seems that matters have been resolved, with the BBC releasing a statement saying they were “delighted” to confirm Young would be included in their broadcast schedule. His performance will be broadcast to audiences across the UK on the BBC, on iPlayer’s Pyramid Stage stream from 10pm, as well as BBC Two and Radio 2.

So far, Glastonbury has seen a surprise set from Lorde – who performed her new album ‘Virgin’ in full (and scored a five star review in the process), a spunky set from Wet LegLewis Capaldi’s triumphant return for a secret set at the Pyramid Stage, a surprise appearance by Peter Capaldi at Franz Ferdinand’s set and more.

The weekend continues with Charli XCXDeftonesOlivia RodrigoThe ProdigyRod Stewart and many more. Check out the full line-up and schedule here.
