Italy: UK King Charles to meet Pope in display of unity between churches

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Rome on Wednesday for a historic state visit to the Vatican, where they will meet Pope Leo in a gesture of unity between the Church of England and the Catholic Church. A statement from the King’s spokesman described closer ties between the two faiths as a vital “bulwark against conflict, division, and tyranny.” Charles will be the first British monarch since the 16th-century Reformation to pray with a pope. The visit, however, is overshadowed by the ongoing scandal involving Prince Andrew. France24 correspondent Seema Gupta reports from Rome, Italy.
