India withdraw pilot rest policy as IndiGo crisis leaves hundreds stranded for fifth day

India’s IndiGo airline is scrambling to cope with widespread flight disruptions triggered by new rules for pilots’ rest breaks. A staffing shortage has seen the airline cancel hundreds of flights. The country’s aviation ministry had to step in – rolling back the policy change for the beleaguered airline – to help it through the current crisis during peak travel time.
